Kings: The Choosing

Kings: The Choosing

Kings TV Series’ Fourth Season—“The Choosing” tells the beginning of the story of the second and most acclaimed king of Israel. David was still young when selected by God to rule the nation in place of Saul. The latter had been the first king and a disappointment to the Lord of Hosts. Thus, the fourth season of Kings takes the viewer to delve deeper into the narrative of Jesse’s youngest son.

The story of David shows that one’s ability to do great deeds is not determined by physical standards but by purity, obedience, fear of God, and the determination to overcome struggles. These qualities shape the character of a chosen individual, as in the case of David, known as a “man after God’s own heart” and a participant in the lineage of Jesus Christ.

In the captivating story of faith, love, and resilience, we will witness the continuation of the accounts in 1 Samuel and parts of Psalms. The story will prominently feature the contrast between Saul, who stubbornly clings to a kingdom no longer rightfully his, and the young David. Despite facing challenges, envy from his brothers, and widespread rejection, David embarks on remarkable experiences with God that shape his life forever.

The narrative unfolds in Bethlehem and its surroundings, including Gibeah, Philistia, and Gibeon. It introduces important characters from the Bible whose stories intertwine with David’s life. From encounters with angels, bears, and lions to facing Philistine giants, the tale of a small red-haired boy, overlooked since birth, is far from ordinary.

Kings—“The Choosing” reveals the most intimate aspects of human nature and exemplifies the criteria defined by God in the selection of his earthly representatives. Despite our human tendency to make choices based on physical attributes, God reveals Himself by contradicting common sense and proving, once again, that He pays attention to what is in the heart rather than what our eyes can see.
